Katelyn and Kyle are two of the kindest, coolest people we've ever met. Their wedding day flew by gracefully and stress-free, making our jobs easy. The ceremony took place on the groom's family farm outside Vegreville, giving us plenty of gorgeous countryside locations to choose from for portraits. The wedding party popped champagne to offer to all the guests, then hopped in the back of the truck to head down the road for photos.
Some of our favourites from the day were the old school RV they travelled around in, the bridal party's bouquets (made by the bride herself!), the 'keep your sh*t together' hanky, the bean bag toss competition, the duelling pianos!! (did you know you could do that?), and the constant smiles from the couple themselves when it sunk in at the ceremony they were actually getting married... after the tears of course.

Bre & Hunter's wedding was all about the details and quality time. A wedding day can go by so fast and the most important part -- the celebration of your love -- can sometimes get lost in the hustle. That's one reason why we love a first look. Don't get us wrong, there is something so special about seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day down the aisle, but a first look gives you a chance to be alone together, taking it all in, without anyone around (except your wonderful photographers). Then you can head off to do portraits together and finish the day off with a late afternoon ceremony and reception.
And now back to the details... Bre & Hunter's awesome personalities were reflected throughout the wedding in the guys' custom-made suits, their thoughtful Bride and Groom gifts to one another, having their dog, Cola, as the cutest flower girl in the world, their choice of kickass wedding band - The Barkells - bringing everyone to their feet to dance the night away, and with all the family, friends, and guests they chose to be there to celebrate. Our personal favourite, and an extremely special part of their wedding, was their ceremony arch, made with the wood from the devastating Fort McMurray wildfires. Being from Fort Mac, for them the arch was a symbol of hope, strength, and the healing power of love. It was an absolute pleasure being part of such an incredible day.

We had the absolute pleasure of photographing Una & Dave's engagement photos. We counted ourselves lucky since even though it was an overcast day, it was so warm we were able to shoot until the light was almost gone. We explored the river valley exploding with autumn colours and were sure to end the evening in the legislature grounds on the bench where Dave had proposed.

We rarely get to do first looks, and Lex & Alma reminded us how special they are and why we love them so much. They give you a moment that is just the two of you, seeing each other for the first time, getting to pause before the craziness begins to take it all in. The smiles, the family, the love, the Duchess dessert, the live band, the stuffed crowns, and the perfectly timed power outage that gave a fabulous excuse for a sparklers party, all made this wedding one of our favourites to be a part of!

Stephanie and Doug got married on a rainy weekend in May, but as luck would have it, the rain ceased to fall for all the important moments, allowing us to head outside for portraits in the blossoming flowers. The day began at the salon, where the energy was bubbly with excitement as Stephanie got to get pampered with her closest girls. Stephanie had two dresses, one old and one new. The old being the very dress her mother wore at her wedding, that was handmade by her aunt, redesigned to suit Steph's fun and youthful style.

Surrounded by mountains, sun, and their family and friends, Katie and Jason got married in the gorgeous Canmore landscape. The wedding was everything a mountain wedding should be - a weekend away in a cozy hotel, an unlimited supply of beautiful portrait locations, and the destination feeling without having to go very far. It reminds us how lucky we truly are to have the mountains just a drive away.

Jackie & Bryan got married on May 14th, in the beautiful sunshine, surrounded by their families and friends. It was so much fun to be a part of their day, and to get to capture all their special traditions. The day began with the groom arriving at the bride's home, and conquering a special set of 'tests' in order for him to enter and find his bride. These enduring tests meant that Bryan had to sing a song in Chinese, shake what his momma gave him, transport fruit in odd ways with his groomsmen, and finally ended with the traditional offer of lai see to Jackie's bridesmaids guarding the door.
